I am not a pastor, but I am a mom of teens that spend a lot of time at church activities.
I think not only including all kids in a community to join in your activities, but to participate in their activties.
I love seeing our pastor and youth pastor at things. Don't wait for an invitation. Check out the local school website for a schedule. Go to track meets, cross country meets, band concerts, baseball games, plays, National Honor Society inductions, etc, etc. Be a familiar face to the kids. Get to know them and maybe they will want to get to know you.
Good point DBmom. I will try to do more of that myself.
Learn the difference between youth ministry and youth group culture.
