Thought of the Day !!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)

"God is PERSONAL, but never private." --- Jim Wallis, God's Politics

We come to a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when, as John Wesley put it, God's Spirit comes together with ours. When we pray, we can be very personal with God. He hears and sees everything about us. There is no other more personal relationship to be had. But our relationship with God is never meant to be private.

Our culture has privatized faith. Society teaches individualism in everything, and so we are taught that our relationship is a private one and our faith is nobody's business. We have a hard time with accountability because we believe that others shouldn't be allowed to tell us how to believe or live out our beliefs. But faith is, and always has been public. Jesus may have gone to the mountains to pray in private, but he came back down to share his ministry in public. And so we must do the same. Every week we make a public profession on Sunday mornings (or whenever you go to church) to our faith by meeting together in a public place. But true faith lasts much more than one or two hours a week. Make your faith...your ministry...your Lord public. Share these everywhere you go and "spur one another on toward love and good deeds".

In the love of Christ,
greg
