Thought of the Day !!

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

   Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
   Love doesn't strut,
   Doesn't have a swelled head,
   Doesn't force itself on others,
   Isn't always "me first,"
   Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
   Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
   Puts up with anything,
   Trusts God always,
   Always looks for the best,
   Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
                                                         1 Corinthians 13:3-7 (The Message)

Love never gives up

A lady sits anxiously waiting for a call or letter.  Her husband has gone overseas to some country she has never heard of, in a war that she never wanted to happen.  He is listed Missing in Action.  But she will not give up.  There is a bond between herself and her husband that won't break until the day he arrives at her door and she finds herself in his arms.
A crowd cheers on a handicapped boy who is so close to the finish line.  Even though the race has long been over, the other runners come back to encourage him.  When he sees that no one else has given up on him, he finishes the race and is celebrated just as if he were the victor.
True love never gives up.  Just look at the father of the prodigal son.  Do you remember in the story how the son takes everything and leaves?  But when he comes back, the father sees him from far off and is filled with compassion.  I have to believe that the father was always looking over the horizon.  He never gave up.
Look at Jesus.  He had every right to give up on the motley crew that he had surrounded himself with.  They never understood, they were always saying dumb things.  Yet it was because of his love for them that he never gave up.
Is there anyone that you've given up on?  Is there anyone who you need to give a second chance?  Remember that God doesn't give up on us.  So we should learn from the Master of Love.

In the love of Christ,
