Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.
1 Corinthians 14:12
Each of us can build up the Church and serve our God in unique ways. What gift has God given you that will allow you to be a part of ministry? Seek out your gifts and your passions, and then figure out how to use them to build up God's kingdom here on earth.

I took the spiritual gifts assessment, both on line at the UMC website and in a bible study class: Both times Service came up #1. I do like to serve, and if possible be the one working behind the scenes. (Let me set up the room, and make snacks, etc. or do the power-point for the presentation). The problem is that after a couple of years of faithful service I keep getting asked to lead! As this has been a recurring theme throughout my life I think God is trying to make a point here.
Hmm, maybe he is Danny.
I have two passions. One is the same as yours...to serve. And the other is to preach.
