Thought of the Day !!

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 22:34-40

Did you live out these commandments yesterday? And just as important a question is this. Will you live them out today and tomorrow? If so, how?

Matthew is one of the real foundations of Jesus's message, and too often Christians only get it half right. Love God. Love your neighbor. When I see the people in the pews sitting as far apart as possible and having as little contact with one another I am always reminded of this message. Perhaps it is because it is a lot easier to love God and head home or out for brunch and the heck with the neighbor. Unfortunately the children pick up on this quickly and then lose all interest. It is a challenge for sure.

I agree that there are Christians who do not live what they preach or are supposed to believe. And I agree that children will pick up on this...especially when those people are their parents. We must be very careful. And hopefully through good examples and God's having a hand in things, these kids will grow up to be true Christ followers.
