Monday's Thought of the Day !!
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or
proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it
keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but
rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith,
is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. – 1 Corinthians
13:4-7 (NLT)
I would like to share a quote by C.S. Lewis:
"Do not waste your time bothering whether you
"love" your neighbor. Act as if you did. As
soon as we do this, we find one of the great secrets. When you are
behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love
him. If you injure someone you dislike, you will find yourself
disliking him more. If you do him a good turn, you will find
yourself disliking him less."
Love is an action verb. It's something that we have
to put to work in our lives. We can say that we love people all day
long. But that won't make it so.
God created us as beings with free will. We have the
ability to choose. Will we choose to claim that we love
others. Or will we choose to act out love towards
others? How about this? Why don't we do both? And
as Lewis pointed out, even when we have a hard time loving someone, we will be
able to make it happen through behaving in a manner that is loving toward
them.
In the love of Christ,
greg
