I learned ages ago in Sunday School that all sins are the same in God's eyes.
I still have a hard time accepting the fact a "little white lie" to spare someone's feelings, ranks up there with theft, adultry, murder. So does that make me wrong? or just human?
I agree with Dannyg. I think the idea that some are worse than others is a concept devised by fallen man. Supported by works of fictions like Dante's "Divine Comedy" where worse sinners get worse and worse treatment in Hell. The Bible says this is not the case. Rather, all sin is equal in the eyes of God and it makes no difference if you commit a single, "innocent" sin, or if you are the anti-Christ, himself, you are separated from God if you lack the covering of that sin with the Blood of Christ.
Could it simply be that a little white lie to keep from hurting someone's feelings is not really a sin? I mean, isn't the greatest commandments love of God and love of neighbor? If the deception is out of love and not wanting to hurt the other, maybe it's not a sin.
Okay, Danny. Let's follow that train of thought to it's logical conclusion. If our goal as Christians is to be more Christlike, then if all sins are equally bad, we must execute (or incarcerate for life) jaywalkers.
Or is it okay for you and God to have different standards?

Of course, everyone else's sin is worse than mine. ;)

We may go through the motions of saying that all sins are equally bad and abhorrent in God's eyes, but we don't really believe it.
If we did, we would execute jaywalkers as often as murderers.
