What's the answer to skyrocketing gas prices?

Refineries are running on reduced capacity as they are re-configuring their equipment to make the new ethanol mixes. Therefore gas supply is lower than demand at the moment, resulting in increased prices at the pump. Look for some reduction in prices as the refineries return to full capacity.

I say let's build a still in the backyard and brew our own corn squeezins. These new ethanol ready engines should run on it if we make it strong enuff. If we have any left over we can use it for medicinal purposes. Or we could get so wasted we won't worry about gas prices.

Just don't tell the Baptists. They frown on that sort of thing.

Buy a Honda like me? It still cost me less than a 20 spot to fill up completely. :) / brag

Seriously, I believe that we really need to consider changing our "travelling" habits. While I was in Europe I noticed that nobody drove their cars. People rode high speed trains (speeds of 220-250 kph) everywhere. I have to drive to dallas every week for school from a distance of 180 miles. If you could provide me with reliable, fast, cheap transportation...I would jump at it!

We need a war for oil.

We need renewable resources.

Ethanol is a step in the right direction. Yet, it takes fuel to work the ground, plant, fertilize, harvest the corn...so not sure if makes sense or not.

We need to conserve and to care. I have a friend that lives 6 blocks from her job, she drives her full size SUV to work, home for lunch, home at 3 to pick up her kids after school, the a few blocks to the babysitter so she can drive to the gym to work out.

We've already had 2 (actually 1.5 since the current one is incomplete). That doesn't seem to be working.

If we had a war for oil, why is gas so expensive?
