Question of the day ??

Inclusive language was a big deal in seminary, both of people and of God. I know that God cannot be condensed into one title such as King or Creator or Father. No one way to speak of God is sufficient. But today's question has to do with what we call God.

What is your favorite title of God and why?

I use 'Father,' too. By the way, I use this title despite the fact that my own earthly father was physically & verbally abusive. In seminary, I learned that 'patriarchal language' in referring to God was a no-no. One of the reasons cited was because a parishioner abused by his/her father would be hurt by such a reference. However, over the years, my relationship with the heavenly Father has healed many of the wounds inflicted by my earthly father--teaching me what true fatherhood is really like. As a result, Psalm 27:10 has become one of my favorites.
