Stare at them blankly and say, "No comprendo."

I usually don't answer the door. And its not just for them, most of the time I don't answer the door.

It is akward, sometimes, in a small town. Because the JWs that knock on my door are often parents of my kids classmates or my customers.

We got a call recently, gas prices are so high they would most likely be calling in the future.

A long time ago, a few days after my oldest daughter was born. I did let a nice man have a not-so-nice piece of my mind when he came knocking on my door. Of course it was 4 in the afternoon, I was still in my jammies, and I was not in the mood for visitors; but I stil cringe when I see that guy around town.

You go DBMOM!! :)

Actually, I kinda like Tony's idea. Except the problem is that if they accepted, they might be back for more...ha ha!!

I can actually honestly say that I've not had but one come by my house in all my life...adult and childhood.

Here in Vicksburg the Mormans don't worry about gas. They all ride bikes.

I invite them in and share the real Gospel. Sharing the Gospel is hard enough. If people trapped in cults want to come to my house to talk about spiritual matters, then how much easier can it get?

It is useful to have a handout or two to offer them. The JWs aren't allowed to take anything, but I use that to plant a seed. I point out that Christianity teaches to test everything and hold onto the good, to use our minds, to test things in light of scripture, etc., so why would their faith tell them not to consider other information?

www.equip.org has good overviews of JWs and Mormons and some questions you can ask them.

I think I'm on their "do not call" lists now - http://4simpsons.wordpress.com/2006/07/30/getting-added-to-do-not-call-lists/

I usually chat with them for a while, and share my own views. (Usually, when they learn I am a pastor - or back in school that I was preparing to be one, they are intrigued and actually want to hear what I think)

I do remember one time though when I was in high school, and babysitting my younger brothers who were in older elementary. An older gentleman from JW came to the door - he was very sweet and non-confrontational. I took his pamphlets and thanked him for stopping and he left - when I turned around, my brothers were standing there at the bottom of the stairs with big walking sticks, reading to defend me against this older man. It was sweet - and hilarious!
