Question of the day ??

If a non-Christian came up to you and asked why do Christians give 10 percent of their income to the church, how would answer the person? And would you have scripture to back up this answer?

we're doing A. Hamilton's Christianity and World Religions, he makes the point that Muslims are required/encouraged to give 2.5% of their income for alms.

I did some research about Christian giving and found according to Barna that Evangelicals tithe at the highest percentage at 14%.

This doesn't answer the questions, but I thought it was interesting.

My answer would be "Because it is important to me."

Sorry, no scripture reference from me.

:o)

My response would be, "uh... most of 'em don't." (Sadly enough.)
