It wouldn't be deeper, it would be less deep because the solid parts of the sponges take up space.

I have trouble with this deep question. I'd respond by saying...."it don't matter, cuz there ain't no bones in ice cream".
Don't know where that came from except to say, my kids always responded to unfathomable questions with an equally unfathomable response. "Dad...there ain't no bones in ice cream".
Deep stuff...at least...I think???
