Thought of the Day !!
Then King David was told, "The LORD has blessed Obed-edom's home and everything he has because of the Ark of God." So David went there and brought the Ark to the City of David with a great celebration. After the men who were carrying it had gone six steps, they stopped and waited so David could sacrifice an ox and a fattened calf. And David danced before the LORD with all his might, wearing a priestly tunic. So David and all Israel brought up the Ark of the LORD with much shouting and blowing of trumpets.
But as the Ark of the LORD entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she was filled with contempt for him.
2 Samuel 6:12-16 (NLT)
Part 1 of 2
We see here that almost immediately after this expedition has begun (bringing the Ark of God to Jerusalem) that King David begins to worship. He worships by way of sacrifice. The people of his day didn't come to the Temple or synagogue or church. They didn't go out on Saturday or Sunday to hear a preacher preach or a rabbi teach. They worshipped by bringing their offerings to the Lord via the priests of the time.
It is stated that King David wore a "priestly tunic" (a linen ephod). This is a one piece, sleeveless pullover garment worn by priests when they sacrifice.
David shed his royal attire, which placed him as one of importance and one to be held up. And he replaced it with the attire of worship, the attire that showed someone who lifted another up...God. And he worshipped. And he worshipped with all his might, not holding back one bit. He didn't care what he looked like, and he didn't care who saw him, because his worship was not for those around, but for that which was above.
Let us not forget to worship, praising God and getting excited (as David did). When we are excited about worship and give it our all, good things can and will happen. First, if we are a church that is excited about worshipping, others will see it and want to be a part of it. Second, God desires it. I've seen many passages where it's written to worship joyfully and none where it says to come into worship and lulled to sleep. Third, as we come into worship and allow the Holy Spirit to genuinely excite us, we will be filled with the joy of worship like we never knew.
And one more reason for us to worship excitedly and as often as we can is this. When we do so, the forces of evil cringe. For when we're about worshipping God, they can't get a word in edgewise. And they hate it. And that's a good thing.
(Tomorrow - a warning against being a Michal)
In the love of Christ,

God inhabits the praise of His people. Some of the most exciting worship services I've experienced were those in which people shared testimonies of God's grace, blessings, and mercy.
